Dallas Hope Charities’ 10th Birthday BBQ Bash

Oak Lawn Band is proud to perform at Dallas Hope Charities’ Legacy of Hope: 10th Birthday BBQ Bash on Saturday, August 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Union Coffee Dallas on Cedar Springs Road.

For ten years, Dallas Hope Charities has helped LGBTQIA+ young adults facing homelessness and housing insecurity find safety, stability, and a path forward. Through the Dallas Hope Center, young adults ages 18 to 24 receive affirming transitional housing and practical support as they work toward independence. Oak Lawn Band fully supports this work, and we are honored to help celebrate this milestone with our music.

This is a neighborhood birthday party with barbecue from Sonny Bryan’s, cake from Daisy Cakes, backyard games, and live community entertainment including Oak Lawn Band! Tickets are $50, and the event will be alcohol-free.

We hope our members, alumni, families, friends, and supporters will join us. Purchase your ticket, or, if you cannot attend, consider making a direct donation to Dallas Hope Charities.

¡Celebramos!

Celebrate culture, rhythm, and a little bit of fun-filled fright in an unforgettable afternoon concert that brings two beloved traditions together. For the first time, we proudly present a program honoring Hispanic Heritage, paired with the long-awaited return of our Halloween Spooktacular—our first Halloween concert in five years.

The performance opens with a vibrant first half dedicated to music by Hispanic and Latin composers, showcasing the color, drive, and infectious energy of works such as Moncayo’s Huapango, Cavéz’s Tamboo, Texidor’s Amparito Roca, and Wilds’ Viva!. This portion of the program highlights the rich musical legacy of Latin cultures and reflects our commitment to diverse voices on the concert stage.

After intermission, the mood transforms. Musicians will trade traditional concert black for Halloween costumes as the stage shifts into a playful, spirited Spooktacular—perfect for audiences of all ages and the festive season. Expect surprises, theatrical flair, and a celebration that’s as entertaining as it is musically thrilling.

Join us for an afternoon where passion meets pageantry, tradition meets imagination, and music brings it all together.

Sapphire Celebration - 45 Years of Pride

Sapphire Celebration - 45 Years of Pride

Join us for Sapphire Celebration: 45 Years of Pride - Oak Lawn Band’s landmark 45th anniversary concert. This performance will showcase a powerful blend of music, memory, and meaning rooted in the development of Dallas’s queer community over the last four decades.

Held at the Moody Performance Hall at 4pm on Saturday, October 11, 2025, this event marks 45 years of queer visibility, community connection, and artistic expression in Dallas. Far more than a traditional concert, Sapphire Celebration is a curated musical journey through OLB’s deep ties to local history, the fight for LGBTQ+ rights, and the power of imagination that drives community arts.

Featuring a carefully selected program of classical fanfares, Broadway showstoppers, and contemporary works, the concert highlights major moments in queer history, from Dallas’s iconic Pegasus to the 10th anniversary of marriage equality, using music and multimedia to reflect on where we’ve been and imagine where we’re headed.

With projections of historic OLB logos, photos submitted by current members, and emotional visual montages, the experience is designed by and for the community it serves. The concert is a showcase not only of musical excellence, but also of resilience, remembrance, joy, and the shared pride of generations who have made this band a lasting symbol of LGBTQ+ strength and artistry in the greater Dallas/Fort-Worth metroplex.
